"CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE?" (aka WHO SAW HER DIE?) s'inserisce nel filone del giallo anni 70. Il regista Aldo Lado, a differenza della maggior parte dei colleghi, che si erano cimentati nel genere, si discosta nettamente dalle tematiche dei film alla "Dario Argento" che contraddistingueva il filone. La personalità di Lado si era già fatta notare nel precedente thriller "LA CORTA NOTTE DELLE BAMBOLE DI VETRO", il quale, amalgamava perfettamente una solida struttura gialla con tematiche politiche, attaccando ferocemente il potere. Lo stesso discorso si può fare per "CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE?", girato nel 1972; qui Lado calca la mano narrando eventi ancora più angoscianti e scioccanti. Il regista descrive una Venezia lugubre e insanguinata dall'omicidio di una bambina; il padre (George Lazenby) si ritrova in una spirale di omicidi per mano di un prete!!!! Dopo la politica Lado non risparmia neanche le istituzioni religiose (farà ancora di meglio nel suo capolavoro "L'ULTIMO TRENO DELLA NOTTE" malsana storia di violenza con la totale assenza di personaggi positivi), dimostrando ancora una volta di essere uno "scomodo" outsider nel panorama cinematografico italiano. Digitmovies pubblica ora "CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE?" come terzo volume della serie dedicata alle musiche di Ennio Morricone per il Giallo italiano. Facendo delle ricerche presso gli archivi della Edipan siamo riusciti a ritrovare il master stereofonico dell'album originale (Gemelli GG.ST.10-017) in ottime condizioni. Non sono sopravvissuti i master delle session, ma praticamente la mezz'ora di musica contenuta nell'album dell'epoca e qui nel nostro CD é tutto quello che é stato usato per il film.Ennio Morricone, genialmente, non ha scritto musica atonale come è tradizione per il genere Giallo, ma una serie di musiche con strumentazione moderna ( batteria,chitarra elettrica,tastiere), ma eseguite da cori di bambini. Risulta così un'atmosfera musicale di sapore antico,molto sospesa, incantata ,quasi volutamente in contrasto con la violenza dei delitti descritti nel film. Parte dei testi sono popolari, mentre altri sono stati scritti da Maria Travia, moglie del compositore.Di particolare suggestione é il brano 8 dove interviene la splendida voce di Edda Dell'Orso.

(aka WHO SAW HER DIE?) becomes part in the '70s Giallo genre.Director Aldo Lado, differently than most of his collegues, who attempted in the genre, goes awy totally from the plots of the "Dario Argento" style movies that contradistinguish the genre. The personality of Lado attracted attention in the previous movie "LA CORTA NOTTE DELLE BAMBOLE DI VETRO", that perfectly amalgamated a solid giallo structure with politic thematics , attacking feraciously the power. The same can be said for "CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE?" , shooted in 1972; here Lado has exagerated a loittle more telling even more anguishing and shocking events. The director describes a Venice made gloomy and bloody by a little girl murder; her father (George Lazenby) finds himself into a spyral of murders by the hand of a priest !!! After politics Lado doesn't save even the religious institutions (he'll do much better in his masterpiece "L'ULTIMO TRENO DELLA NOTTE" unhealthy story of violence with the total absence of postive characters), demonstrating again to be a "difficult" outsider of the italian cinema panorama. Digitmovies now releases "CHI L'HA VISTA MORIRE?"as third volume of the series dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone for the italian Giallo. Searching for in the Edipan Archives we could discover the stereo master tapes used for the original 1972 album (Gemelli GG.ST.10-017) and realize also that they were in very good conditions. Sadly the complete session tapes did not survived until today, but in few words the half hour of music contained in the LP and here in our premiere CD release is all that was used for the movie. Ennio Morricone, in a genial way, did not write atonal music as it is usual for the Giallo genre,but a series of music themes with modern instrumentation (drums,electric guitars,keyboards) all performed by children choir. So a very suspended,haunted,musical atmosphere with an ancient flavour turns out ,almost intentionally in contrast with the violence of murders told in the plot. Some of songs contains traditional texts,while others feature original lyrics written by Maria Travia,wife of the composer. Particularly suggestive is the splendid vocal performance of Edda Dell'Orso in track 8.
