Domanda: è possibile riassumere 15 anni in 70 minuti? Se il periodo è 1966 - 1979 non si può di certo avere questa ambizione... Abbandoniamo velocemente questa via e cerchiamo di capire di cosa "parla" l’oggetto che avete fra le mani. Cinecocktail the second chance si infila in quell’oceano di musica prodotta in Italia dalla seconda metà degli anni ’60 fino alla fine degli anni ’70 e compie un viaggio in cerca di prede. E’ un percorso che tocca principalmente tre tappe e fa poche digressioni, le nostre guide sono alcuni Maestri di grande talento: Armando Trovaioli, Roberto Pregadio, Romano Mussolini, Francesco De Masi, Berto Pisano, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis e Sante Maria Romitelli.
Lo scopo di Cinecocktail the second chance è, come per il suo predecessore, l?intrattenimento, ma ora l’argomento trattato è completamente diverso: se il primo Cinecocktail contiene una selezione studiata per rilassare l’ascoltatore mentre degusta un sofisticato cocktail in un locale dalle luci soffuse, ora la miscela presenta un tasso alcolico più elevato. Dall’eleganza dei divani di un lounge bar, ci spostiamo per andare ad ascoltare un vero e proprio dj set dal fascino retrò eseguito in un club di tendenza! Ecco quindi prendere vita una selezione che parte dal jazz mood di fine anni ’60, inizio ’70 con brani tratti dalle colonne sonore di alcuni film dell’epoca: La ragazza dalle mani di Corallo, Kriminal, Satanik, Colpo Maestro al servizio di Sua Maestà Britannica. Il ritmo va in crescendo e ci porta alla svelta a sconfinare in melodie più beat e shake, (tracce tratte dalle colonne sonore dei film "Un amore all’arrabbiata", "le svedesi") una breve pausa su queste colline dopodichè la musica si arrampica lungo tutto il decennio del ’70 fino a raggiungere le alte vette dove, il groove più funky del 1979 osserva dalla sua elevata posizione tutto il panorama musicale appena esplorato...
La seconda parte del primo disco attinge alle partiture scritte dal Maestro Trovaioli con i titoli di testa di "Sessomatto" ed il suo ritmo intramontabile, dal Maestro Pisano (Dove vai se il vizietto non ce l’hai?), il grande contrabbassista dalle strepitose idee musicali, di nuovo dal Maestro Pregadio, un vero funambolo del pentagramma, dal Maestro Romitelli, autore della colonna sonora di "Yeti il gigante del XX° secolo" e delle sue incredibili sonorità e, per finire, dai fratelli De Angelis dei quali ne viene citata l’energia musicale infusa in "Gangster Story" (Roma Violenta).
Il viaggio si chiude con la versione vocale di Tic Nervoso (due tracce prima, la versione strumentale), uno dei brani più belli del catalogo Beat di fine anni ’70. Ha un orchestrazione fatta con archi, chitarre, percussioni, coro, trombe e tastiere che è semplicemente diabolica! Fin dalle primissime battute un breake di fiati ci spara dritti dentro una follia di quasi 6 minuti che incolla letteralmente le orecchie alle stereo e non consente pausa nei movimenti. Un brano che potrebbe essere stato composto benissimo dagli Chic, piuttosto che dai Change o che so... dai Doobie Brothers... e che da questi gruppi può essere solo invidiato. Gente l’anno è il 1979 e si sente...!
L’adrenalina infine viene scaricata da un brano psichedelico con una grande atmosfera (Sliding Crime, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis) che consente una breve pausa di qualità in questa ora nata dai timidi movimenti delle prime tracce per finire nell’energia più pura delle ultime.
Cinecocktail the second chance contiene due parentesi, una d’apertura con un "pezzo" di Piano, melodico e di benvenuto che, per l’ascoltatore, è un vero e proprio biglietto per il viaggio che sta per iniziare e una parentesi di chiusura contenente l’eco dell’energia appena sfogata (La settima donna , sequenza 4), chitarre funky in un fraseggio per palati fini.
Dopo questa breve descrizione, non mi resta che invitarvi ad inserire il CD nello stereo e di augurarvi a mia volta di fare un buon viaggio... sono sicuro che una volta terminato, lo rifarete... e lo rifarete... e lo rifarete... e lo rifarete...

Question: Is it possible to summarize 15 years in 70 minutes? If the period is 1966 - 1979 we should not be so ambitious!
Let?s quickly drop this idea and instead try to reach an understanding through the language burned into the object you hold in your hands - the mystical language of music.
Cinecocktail: The Second Chance (Cinecocktail Volume 2) - dives into the ocean of music produced in Italy from the second half of the 60s until the end of the 70s. It’s a journey that focuses on three principle musical "locations" and deviates only sporadically. Our guides are very gifted Maestros: Armando Trovaioli, Roberto Pregadio, Romano Mussolini, Francesco De Masi, Berto Pisano, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis and Sante Maria Romitelli.
The aim of Cinecocktail 2 is primarily entertainment, as it was for its predecessor, but now the material is completely different. The first CINECOCKTAIL offered a selection meant to relax the listener as if in the good company of a sophisticated cocktail and in the sensual confines of a dark, seductive night club. Volume 2 musically generates the sensations of a much more potent drink, and thus should be thought of as being of a dangerously higher proof; so beware! From the elegant sofas of a lounge bar in a very fashionable dance-club we find ourselves listening to a solid DJ-set with a peculiar charm.
Cinecocktail 2 offers a selection that kicks-off with a jazz mood from the late 60s and early 70s, with tracks taken from the scores "La ragazza dalle mani di corallo", "Kriminal", "Satanik", and "Colpo maestro al servizio di sua maestà Britannica". The Rhythms will keep rising, and soon you will find yourself in the midst of melodies with more "beat" and "shake", featuring tracks taken from the original soundtracks of the movies "Un amore all’arrabbiata", "l’isola delle svedesi", and from both there are found here many tracks never before released! Following these up-beat selections the music climbs further into the decade of the 70s until it reaches the heights where exist the funkiest grooves of 1979, and from here you may imagine yourself looking out over all the musical landscape just explored.
The second part of the first CD takes elements from scores written by Maestro Trovaioli (the Sesso Matto main titles with their never-ending rhythm), the great double-bass player who was so gifted with great ideas, Maestro Pisano (Dove vai se il vizietto non ce l’hai?), Maestro Pregadio (a world-class showman), author of the amazing soundtrack "Yeti il gigante del 20° secolo", Maestro Romitelli, and by the De Angelis brothers, of whom we quote the energy infused music they wrote for "Roma Violenta".
The trip finishes with the vocal version of "Tic Nervoso", which is one of the grooviest tracks from the 1970s Beat Records catalogue (also offered is the instrumental version). This cue features an orchestration employing strings, guitars, percussions, chorus, trumpets and keyboards that is simply - diabolical! Right from the start a trumpet blast propels one into a dynamic musical landscape that lasts nearly six minutes, and the explosive sounds that ensue should hold all listeners spellbound until the last note! A track that could have been composed by Chic, by the Doobie Brothers, or by Change, and one that, in all probability, will be envied by them!
Finally the year is 1979 - and there is no mistaking it! The adrenaline of Tic Nervoso flows away thanks to a psychedelic track with a superbly soothing atmosphere; Sliding Crime by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. How nice to end on such a floating note, after an hour that began with the shy music of the first tracks and built into the full force of Roma Violenta and Tic Nervoso. "Cinecocktail: The Second Chance" is bracketed by two main elements, one at the beginning featuring a solo piano track and a melody to welcome the listener - a sweet ticket for the trip that follows - and an element at the end that maintains an echo of the energy just dissipated, "La settima donna", sequence 4, with a funky guitar housed in a melody that provides a delicate listen; and both of these are by our marvellous Maestro Pregadio.
After this short description I can only invite you to insert the CD into your player and wish you a good trip. I’m sure that once the voyage is ended you’ll be drawn to it again... and again... and again... and again...
