"Il prefetto di ferro" ed "Il mostro" due eccellenti composizioni di Ennio Morricone, originariamente stampate su vinile, sono adesso disponibili su CD. Questa ristampa è un tributo a due colonne sonore che inizialmente furono pubblicate separatamente - "Il mostro" su di un 45 giri ed in un antologia, "Il prefetto di ferro" su di un album.
Questa ristampa ci fornisce un ritratto più completo di Morricone.
La tecnologia odierna consente all’ascoltatore di apprezzare con più grande chiarezza i suoni mediterranei del Prefetto di Ferro di Pasquale Squitieri che sono a volte caldi e altre duri, ma rimangono sonorità che senz’altro ricordano all’ascoltatore che il compositore è padrone di una conoscenza profonda del folklore locale.
"La ballata del prefetto Mori" si evidenzia come canzone di grande tristezza ma anche come denuncia di una tragedia storica e sociale che avvenne nella provincia italiana della Sicilia e che ancora oggi è di scena: Un uomo di legge viene in conflitto con la mafia, signori del territorio che ne conoscono la conformazione ed i covi segreti.
Questo CD include anche 4 pezzi scritti dal maestro Ennio Morricone per il film "Il mostro" di Luigi Zampa.
Il film esamina i problemi sociali che si incontrano nell’educazione di giovani in vista del futuro.
La storia si svolge sullo sfondo di omicidi commessi da un misterioso criminale e tragicamente il giornalista, Valerio, scopre che il colpevole è il suo figlio sedicenne, che viene chiamato "Il mostro".
Il figlio di Valerio è l’orribile esempio di come l’educazione possa nuocere ad un giovane.
L’approcio di Morricone a questa tragica storia di equivoci e morte è d’autore ed infonde nella musica tensione e suspense attraverso sonorità intenzionalemnte caotiche per quanto riguarda le percussioni ed i brass e allo stesso tempo, nel corso del film, ci fa apprezzare degli stupendi momenti di malinconia

"Il prefetto di Ferro" and "Il Mostro" two exellent 1977 compositions by Ennio Morricone which were originally released on vynil, have been re-issued on CD.
This re-issue is a fitting tribute to two soundtracks which first appeared separately - "Il Mostro" on a 45 rpm, single and in anthologies, and "Il Prefetto di Ferro" on an album.
This re-issue supplies a more complete portrait of Morricone.
Today’s technology enables the listener to appreciate with greater clarity the mediterranean sounds of Pasquale Squitieri’s "Il prefetto di Ferro" which are sometimes warm and at others harsh but are sounds which unmistakably remind the listener that the composer draws from an intimate knowledge of the folk music of the region.
"La ballata del Prefetto Mori" stands out as a song of great sadness but also as a denunciation of a historical and social tragedy which occurred in the Italian province of Sicily and which is still being enacted today - a lawman comes into conflict with the Mafia, who are the masters of that territory and know the land and its most secret hiding places.
This CD also includes 4 cuts written by the Maestro Morricone for the Luigi Zampa film "Il Mostro". The film examines the social problems encountered in the process of educating youn men for the future.
The story is acted out against a background of murders by a mysterious assassin and tragically the journalist, Valerio, discovers to his horror that culprit is his sixteen year old son, dubbed "the monster".
Valerio’s son is a horrific example of how education of the young can go badly wrong. Morricone’s treatment of this tragic tale of death and misunderstanding is masterly - he embues the music with tension and suspense through intentionally chaotic writing for the brass and percussion but does not allow it to destroy some beautiful and melancholy moments in the score
