less the usual tragic parable.
The emotion aroused by the onset of hostilities in the early
operations, employment of a patrol, a displacement, the commotion
caused by listening to reports of war or sign of honor to
the fallen, or on arrival difficult of rare letters from home,
and then panic, the partisanship, the court martial and the
desolation caused by the sight of the rubble.
All these feelings pass, penetrate and often overwhelm the
human mind soldiers in war.
