description & story

Digitmovies releases for the very first first time on CD the complete OST by Francesco De Masi from the movie African Story directed in 1971 by Fred Wilson (Marino Girolami) and starring Sylva Koscina, Stephen Boyd, Michel Kirner, Rita Oriolo Forzano.

A famous singer (Boyd) and his female fan fall in love and they marry secretly.
They leave for Africa for their honeymoon where a dangerous adventure waits for them.

This CD was possible thanks to the mono master tapes which have been preserved in very good condition in the RCA vaults until today.
The score is based on two main theme songs sung by an unidentified singer: Man You Need A Hand (Tr. 1) and In The Shadows Of My Mind (Tr. 18), two lovely motifs enriched by the presence of the Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni.
The entire exotic background of the wonderful African locations is scored by mythic Francesco De Masi who has written a score rich with elements of lounge music such as Shake (Tr. 13, Tr. 17), latin-american like Bossa and others (Tr. 4, Tr. 6, Tr. 7), alternatingromantic themes (Tr. 2, Tr. 3, Tr. 10, Tr. 14, Tr. 21, Tr. 23, Tr. 24 ) with others of action and suspense (Tr. 5, Tr. 8, Tr. 11. Tr. 15. Tr. 16, Tr. 19, Tr. 20).
The voice of Giulia De Mutiis (she was the wife of Alessandroni) performs with extreme sweetness the liturgical-Beat tune Lonely Memories (Tr. 12).
A right and proper rescue of the Italian Silver Age for the memory of the unforgettable Francesco De Masi, a musician always so dear to us.
