description & story

GDM music issues on CD the OST by Ennio Morricone for the noir movie Barbablù directed by Edward Dmytryk (by Luciano Sacripanti for the Italian market) and starring Richard Burton, Raquel Welch, Virna Lisi, Nathalie Delon, Marilù Tolo, Karin Schubert, Agostina Belli, Sybil Danning, Joey Heatherton, Edward Meeks, Mathieu Carriere.

Ann is the eight wife of baron Klaus von Sepper (Richard Burton), heroic aviator of the first World War and later a nazi, that following a wound he adorned himself with a bizarre blue beard.
Lurking in her husband's castle, the woman discovers a cold storage with the bodies of the brides who have preceded her.

Ennio Morricone has written a score that perfectly highlights all the atmosphere between mystery and romantic, macabre and horror of the plot writing a recurring theme played by the Hungarian cimbalom (the story is placed in Budapest during the '20s).
The composer reprises the main theme alternating it in a remarkable way with different and fascinating variations.
Beside the stereo material issued on the 33 rpm album, alternate takes in mono from the original session have been added including the rare film version of the Main Titles, all properly restored and remastered in digital.
