of M° Armando Trovajoli.
Casanova '70 directed in 1965 by Mario Monicelli and starring
Marcello Mastroianni, Virna Lisi, Marisa Mell, Michèle
Mercier, Enrico Maria Salerno, Liana Orfei, Guido Alberti, Beba
Loncar, Moira Orfei, Margaret Lee, Rosemary Dexter and famous
director Marco Ferreri in the role of a count.
Homo eroticus directed by Marco Vicario in 1971, a kind of re-make
of Casanova'70 regarding to characters and situations, starring
a very good Lando Buzzanca surrounded by many women such as
Rossana Podestà, Sylva Koscina, Ira von Fürstenberg,
Adriana Asti, Femi Benussi, Evi Marandi, Angela Luce.
In both the movies the male protagonist is challenged by the
feminine universe with all the romantic adventures (and misadventures)
that'll follow.
This CD has been realized under the supervision of the same
composer, thanks to the fact that only recently the complete
mono master tapes of Casanova'70 have been found.
At that time a 33 rpm album was issued on Epic label (NL 26195)
assembled somewhat strange and containing a few selected tracks
from Armando Trovajoli's OSTs of Casanova '70 and Marriage Italian
Style and tracks from Darling of John Dankworth.
More recently in Japan a CD was issued with the same material
from Casanova '70, but mastered from vinyl.
Our CD contains the music selected from the original mono master
tapes.
The OST of Casanova '70, an interesting mix of Baroque and Modern
where the 18th century harpsichord is accompanied by jazz and
blues sonorities, is based on a central main theme with variations
performed by the Choir of I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni
and exceptional soloists, such as Dino Piana playing trombone
and the same M° Trovajoli playing the harpsichord.
About Homo eroticus, for this CD we have used the stereo master
tapes of the original album issued by RCA in 1971 (OLS 7), but
the full recording session tapes were never found.
For the first time this OST appears on CD in Italy and in the
rest of the world (although already re-issued in Japan in 1994
on the un- findable CD RCA / BMG - Victor BVCP 1041).
Armando Trovajoli has written a brilliant and very romantic
score, with Lounge Style arrangements, enriched with typically
Sicilian atmospheres given by the use of the marranzano (Jewish
harp), in addition to the unique voice performance of Edda.

Casanova '70
Since it was made in 1965, we can assume that Casanova '70
is set five years in the future.
Marcello Mastroianni stars as the modern incarnation of the
legendary lover.
This Casanova is a NATO officer who is sexually aroused only
when danger threatens.
And that's about all there is to it, except to add that the
ladies-Virna Lisi in particular-are gorgeous.
Director Mario Monicelli cowrote the screenplay, which was
nominated for an Academy Award.

Homo eroticus
Since the Italian Homo Eroticus was released to the US as
Man of the Year, this video version is available under both
titles. Lando Buzzanca plays the servant to dazzling socialite
Rosanna Podesta. His duties go far beyond carrying tea on
a silver tray. Fact is, Rosanna is what you might call insatiatable.
Pretty soon, Buzzanca is wondering where his next reserve
of energy will be coming from.
