description
Digitmovies continues his long music journey of exploration in the wide Italian Western territory, releasing another soundtrack gem from this genre: Dio perdona... io no! (aka God forgives...I don't) directed in 1967 by Giuseppe Colizzi and introducing the dynamite duo Terence Hill and Bud Spencer in their first starring role.
Digitmovies has previously issued on CD, thanks to Cinevox Archives, the complete scores of I quattro dell'Ave Maria and La collina degli stivali and now releasing this Cd we can finally complete the Western trilogy of director Colizzi, actors Hill & Spencer and composer Rustichelli.
The realization of this Cd project is again possible by courtesy of our friends at C.A.M. Archives who have preserved the stereophonic master tapes recorded in 1967 until today.
In January of 1968 C.A.M. issued a single with the tracks Dies irae (tr. 1) and Passo dietro passo (tr. 11), that later were re-issued on an album of the Phoenix series together with other six tracks from Dio perdona... io no! and also featuring selected music from two other westerns scored by M° Rustichelli (Uccidi o muori and Bastardo, vamos a matar).
This first CD release contains the complete score in full stereo composed by Carlo Rustichelli and conducted by Bruno Nicolai feat The A. Carapellucci Choir.
The score is largely symphonic and based on the powerful Dies irae first introduced in the opening titles (tr. 1), later followed by The Cat theme (the character played by Terence Hill): an epic motif for electric guitar and strings, very often reprised in the score (tr. 4, 7).
Carlo Rustichelli has written a serious symphonic score alternating between mysterious (tr. 3) and often dramatic and violent passages (tr. 6, 10, 11, 16 etc.).
M° Rustichelli has also enriched this score with some nice source music like a piece composed for band (tr. 2), the music for Rose, the saloon maitresse (tr.5, 8) and the Funeral Harlem style music (tr. 9).
This CD features every note recorded during the session, inc. the two single tracks, the extra six tracks released on the 1986 Phoenix LP compilation and 16 tracks never released before on any format.
The music was chronologically sequenced exactly as appears in the movie.
Even though an appropriate digital remastering has been carried out, some minor defects and sound anomalies present on the original analog sources could persist.

story

In this grim spaghetti western a murderous robber hijacks a payroll train, murders everyone aboard and then stashes his loot.
A gunslinger learns about it and decides he wants the money for himself and so hatches an elaborate plot to get at it.
He lures the crook into a rigged poker game, and afterward a gunfight ensues.
The quick-drawing gunman makes short work of the robber, then teams up with an insurance agent to look for the hidden fortune.
Unbeknownst to them, the robber had an ace up his sleeve and didn't really die during the showdown.
As soon as he can, he and his gang ride out for two-fisted, blood-soaked revenge.
