| description |
Director Antonio Bido has left his indelible
print in the Italian Giallo, realizing in the second half of
the 70s two unforgettable films: Il gatto dagli occhi di giada
(Watch Me When I Kill) in 1977 and Solamente nero (The Blood
Stained Shadow) in 1978.
Il gatto dagli occhi di giada goes away from the thematics of
the Argento Giallo in vogue in those years, for the originality
of the plot; an eyewitness of a crime is threatened from a merciless
assassin who's killing the members of a popular jury that had
made to condemn an innocent... but the truth will reveal itself
to be an other; for the right cast: a likeable Corrado Pani
and a splendid Paola Tedesco in state of grace.
Moreover in the second part of the film Bido paints a very beautiful
and alarming Padova, caretaker of buried mysteries and distressing
vengeances.
Digitmovies presents for the first time the rescue on CD of
an other remarkable soundtrack of Rock, Progressive, experimental
type from the cult film directed in the 1977 by Antonio Bido
Il gatto dagli occhi di giada.
The score was written and performed by a band called Trans Europe
Express.
For nearly thirty years all the stereo master tapes of the recording
session have been conserved in very good conditions in the Rca
vaults and after an accurate digital remastering and editing
this OST finally could see the light on the market.
The Progressive style of this OST just derives from the roots
of the group, in fact the formation of Trans Europe Express
band was constituted by:
Mauro Lusini (songwriter, singer and author of the famous Gianni
Morandi song C'era un ragazzo che come me and also the voice
of the Goblin band on the album Volo);
Gianfranco Coletta (guitarist, who took part of the psichedelic
group Chetro & Co and of the first formation of the Banco
del mutuo soccorso band);
Glauco Borrelli (bassist of the Albero motore band);
Adrian Monteduro (guitarist, who recorded his first album as
songwriter, singer accompanied by the Reale accademia di musica
band).
The brutal crimes, acts of a macabre serial killer are backgrounded
by a suspended and mysterious theme dominated by an electric
bass that seems to recreate some sound atmospheres of the Dario
Argento movies (Tr. 1), and by more fast rock themes (tr. 6,
tr. 7, tr. 8, tr. 9, tr. 19).
This OST alternates soft moments between magical and romantic
(tr. 5, tr. 14, tr. 18, tr. 23, tr. 24) to a great variety of
experimental music themes (that reprise the atonal sound of
Morricone and Nicolai for the Giallo) of great impact inside
and outside of the film (tr. 2, tr. 3, tr. 5, tr. 11, tr. 15,
tr. 21, tr. 25, tr. 26).
A soundtrack for every archive dedicated to the Giallo and Noir
genres. |

of a victim's face as she cooks dinner.
