| description |
For the first time on CD the beautiful score
composed by Piero Piccioni for the movie Mimi' Metallurgico,
ferito nell'onore directed by Lina Wertmuller in 1972 and interpreted
by a wonderful Giancarlo Giannini with Mariangela Melato, Agostina
Belli, Luigi Diberti and Turi Ferro.
The movie had a international distribution with the title The
seduction of Mimi' and won important awards:
Cannes Film Festival, Donatello David for best actor and others.
The grotesque tone of the movie is wonderfully underlined by
the music of Piero Piccioni, one of the great Maestro of music
for Cinema.
The Maestro had collaborated with Lina Wertmuller for Tutto
a posto e niente in ordine and for Travolti da un insolito destino
nell'azzurro mare d'agosto.
This CD lasts 58.10 minutes and has the original sterero material
printed in the original CINEVOX LP MDF33/53 and some stereo
material not included in that LP.
A peculiar thing is to note that a lot of this material wasn't
used in the movie because the Director made use of some Verdi
compositions and some repertoire songs, Italian national Hymn
included!
Anyway, this CD keeps all the music written by the great Maestro
for the movie and will make an excellent addition to your collection! |

| story |
Lina Wertmuller's fifth feature, The Seduction
of Mimi, stars the director's favorite leading man, Giancarlo
Giannini.
Giannini plays the muddler of the title, who can't keep apace
with the exigencies of a cruel, callous society (this character
would be honed to perfection in Wertmuller's subsequent Seven
Beauties);
his political and sexual ignorance land him in hot water time
and again. Wertmuller devotes much of the picture's running
time to lengthy monologues and diatribes involving sex and
politics;
the film attained notoriety for its infamous sequence of Giannini
bedding an obese woman.
Wertmuller won a Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival
for her work in this picture.
Originally titled Mimi Mettalurgio Ferito nell'Onore, the
film has also been released as Mimi the Metalworker and Wounded
in Honor.
