Digitmovies presents for the first time on CD complete
and in full stereo the OST by Stelvio Cipriani from the action
movie La Notte Degli Squali directed in 1987 by Tonino Ricci
and starring Treat Williams, Antonio Fargas, Janet Agren,
Christopher Connelly, Sal Borghese, John Steiner, Egidio Termine,
Nina Soldano.
David (Williams) is a shark hunter who has taken hold of
a disc containing some top secrets.
Some killers are hired by a multinational corporation: the
man defends himself against criminal attacks, between chases
and gunfires, after having exterminated the gangsters from
the sharks, David faces the boss of the organization.
Stelvio Cipriani is one of the most noted and beloved Italian
composers around the world who has composed more than 300
soundtracks for the cinema of every genre and who is internationally
famous for such hits as Anonimo Veneziano and the theme from
the Western movie Un Uomo Un Cavallo Una Pistola which on
the American RCA single with the cover version made by Henry
Mancini and his orchestra sold over one million of copies.
For La Notte Degli Squali Cipriani has composed an electronic
OST with the typical disco/rock sound of the 80s by writing
a rhythmic action theme for the protagonist David, introduced
in Titoli di testa (Tr. 1), which gets alternated with mysterious
and dark atmospheres and with a recurring love theme.
Although the movie was a hit in the USA, Great Britain, Spain
and above all in Japan, a 45 rpm or 33 rpm record with the
score wasn't issued at the time of the film's release,
but only 5:32 suite saw the light on a Japanese CD compilation
in 1996.
For this CD we have used the stereo master tapes of the original
recording session assembling 58:26, which is all that was
originally recorded for the movie (with the exclusion of some
library music taken from other movies).
This CD wants to pay tribute to the music art of Stelvio Cipriani,
an always versatile artist who decade after decade continues
to never disappoint his fans. |
