Digitmovies presents a musical rarity:
the complete OST in full stereo from the movie La Più Allegra Storia Del Decamerone.
For this German production the music score was commissioned to the Italian composer Daniele Patucchi and this long CD is possible thanks to the big help of our friends at C.A.M. in whose archives the original recording session master tapes have been kept in excellent condition and in full stereo till now.
At the time of the film's release in 1971 no official record of this OST had been released, but only two tracks were later issued in mono on promotional C.A.M. library albums.
This delicious OST opens with Main Titles, a delicate and bucolic theme for flute and guitar which leads the listener into an ancient world populated by beautiful and naked dames, who are living in large castles, and by knights who seek to conquer their heart (Tr. 1).
Daniele Patucchi has written a romantic love theme with a medieval flavour called Theme For Sybil (dedicated to the fascinating actress Sybill Danning who plays Kriemhild) which is introduced for solo harp in Tr. 2, reprised in the first part of Tr. 4 and then in Tr. 6, Tr. 11, Tr. 14, Tr. 18, Tr. 20, Tr. 23, and often magnificently performed by the voice of Edda Dell’Orso.
For the heroic Siegfried, Patucchi has composed a beat theme first introduced in a slow version in Tr. 3, a rhythmic and brilliant motif which is in a shake music style for French horns and orchestra (Tr. 4) and reprised with many arrangements, often with the beautiful voice of Edda Dell’Orso (Tr. 7, Tr. 8, Tr. 9, Tr. 15, Tr. 21).
The rest of the OST is characterized by music for battles and duels (Tr. 5, Tr. 16) and for the scenes at the Court by dancefloor shake music with the sexy voice of Edda (Tr. 12 and Tr. 17), by instrumental shake music which reprises the Siegfried Theme (Tr. 10) and by a psychedelic dance with Eastern flavour (Tr. 13, Tr. 22).
An OST that really deserves to be discovered and preserved on CD forever. |
