This double CD contains all tracks from the original LP plus
29 tracks of alternate takes and film versions from composer

This 2006 Re-issue is the ultimate double Cd
special edition of Profondo Rosso, one of the most famous and
best selling soundtracks in the history of Film Music on records.
31 years after its theatrical release, Dario Argento's cult
movie dated 1975 is still a mega-evergreen among Horror and
noir fans around the world.
The Original Soundtrack Album, containing 29 minutes of score
by noted jazz composer Giorgio Gaslini (Silver ribbon winner
for Antonioni's La notte in 1961) and emerging rock band Goblin
has sold millions of copies all over the world.
Thanks to this movie, Goblin at the time became one of the most
known bands in the world.
The album was printed in a lot of countries and the Profondo
Rosso theme became a very big hit in the international top charts
and nowadays this score still remains a very innovative one.
M° Gaslini wrote jazz themes and very effective orchestral
music to accompany some key scenes of the movie such as the
recurrent haunting lullaby and the childish theme for the murderer.
Profondo rosso was reissued on CD in Japan and subsequently
in the expanded Italian re-issue in 1996.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary and beyond of the movie and
its great score we are proud to present a double disc set which
features the original album program on disc 1 and film versions
& alternate takes on disc 2 (with a total time of about
87 minutes in stereo).
We have included in the second disc 8 completely inedited tracks
(which don't appear on the 1996 Italian CD either) featuring
jazz music for the character of the jazz pianist Mark (David
Hennings) and very scary experimental music themes.

The film that has become the master work
in Italian horror maestro Dario Argento's canon, Deep Red
holds up brilliantly despite the plethora of copycat slasher
films it inspired in the years to follow.
The film opens with a flashback murder shown from the perspective
of a child while an eerie nursery rhyme plays.
Cut to the present, pianist Marc Daly (David Hemmings) witnesses
the murder of a psychic while chatting with his drunken pal,
Carlo (Gabriele Lavia).
While the police investigate, Marc joins forces with attractive
reporter Gianna (Daria Nicolodi).
Once Marc realizes that he is a target for the killer, he
seeks help from Giordani (Glauco Mauri), a professor of the
paranormal, who soon becomes one of the killer's victims.
Marc's research leads him to an abandoned house where he discovers
a secret room that hides a corpse.
Before he can call the cops, he is knocked out and awakens
to find the place in flames while Gianna holds him.
Racing to the neighbors to call for help, Marc discovers an
important clue that leads him to a nearby school where he
finally finds the killer's identity.
The madman attacks him, but the police arrive to save Marc.
Though the case appears to be solved, Marc comes to the disturbing
realization that one piece of the puzzle remains.
