description
Digitmovies is releasing for the very first time on CD the original stereo soundtrack from the Duccio Tessari movie L'uomo senza memoria composed and conducted by Gianni Ferrio.
M° Ferrio had already collaborated with director Tessari on giallo movies like La morte risale a ieri sera and Una farfalla con le ali insanguinate.
This CD project was made possible thanks to the availability of the stereophonic masters preserved in the RCA archives.
M° Ferrio wrote a main theme entitled Labyrinthus that develops in the arrangement throughout the score.
It is introduced in a vocal version (with lyrics by Giorgio Calabrese) in the main title credits and gets a reprise in the end title credit music (Tr. 1, Tr. 19), preformed by female vocal singer Rosella.
This romantic but at the same time nostalgic theme is starting slow and then returns to a pop flavoured still symphonic and lyric song.
The leitmotif is reprised with numerous orchestral variations alternating from the quiet, sometimes mystic and mysterious atmosphere to dramatic one with rhythm and use of electric bass, strings and effects that evoke certain sound-atmosphere of the 70's that Jerry Fielding and Lalo Schifrin created for movies with the character Inspector Callaghan played by Clint Eastwood (Tr. 2, Tr. 4, Tr. 5, Tr. 6, Tr. 7, Tr. 9, Tr. 11, Tr. 12, Tr. 14, Tr. 15, Tr. 16, Tr. 17, Tr. 18).
The dark side of the story is resolved by a rhythmic and extremely joyful beat style motif for strings heard during the scene with the mother (Senta Berger) and her son (Tr. 3).
In the archives we also discovered a montage for the advertised (see end credits of the film) but never released 45 rpm single, containing the single version of the song as Side A, with a slightly different ending (Tr. 20) and as Side B (Tr. 21) a different, longer version of Tr. 3.
