description
Pop, Jazz Pulsion and Psychedelic Excess

UFO film in Louis De Funes's long filmography, L'Homme Orchestre by Serge Korber also marks the choice meeting of the comedy actor and the very original film soundtrack genius François de Roubaix.
For this sharp musical, the young composer finally has his hands on ample resources including a comfortable budget.
Giving him free reign to mix revolutionary sound recording techniques he developed in the heart of his Parisian home-studio with the instrumentation of a grand orchestra.
His youth, overflowing creative energy and his genius explode along a flamboyant and raring to go score, where cubist tracks with incredible structures show no shame in mixing up pop, jazz pulsion and psychedelic excess.
With this magical album, excess in all its forms is decidedly on the agenda.
We can therefore hear the De Funes's father and son take on ditties (the attractive father-son duo Les poupons, Ballet du rêve, the furious Screaming Jay Hawkins style Yacht), when further along it's hoards of instruments working up a frenzy (flutes, brass, chords, organs, guitars, moog) and throwing themselves into the most unique of adventures, a cross between white hot groove (Répétition, Audition and Piti piti pas) and baroque collages (the vertiginous Générique).
Such modernity commands respect.
In the musician's short but intense discography, this original soundtrack is an important milestone.
A positive piece, both luminous and resolutely joyful.
Sadly, the extremely rare pressing of the original vinyl (according to legend only a hundred copies exist) has made this treasure unattainable for most mere mortals to date.

story
Evans (Louis De Funes) stars in this situation comedy about a man in charge of a female ballet troupe.
The only other man in the house is his nephew Philippe (Olivier De Funes).
One of the former residents becomes pregnant, and anonymous note labels the nephew as the father.
Evans seeks out the girl only to find she has another child as well.
He soon gets roped into becoming a nursemaid to the squalling infant and the year old child.
The part of the nephew is played by Louis' son, and the film features several songs and dances.
The role of Evans is played with a more restrained manner by the popular French comic.
