After ten years of a hard job of rescuing
and preserving Italian soundtracks, Digitmovies proudly celebrates
its 200th CD by issuing on CD for the first time complete
and in full stereo the OST of the cool brothers Guido &
Maurizio De Angelis for the movie Zorro directed in 1974 by
Duccio Tessari and starring Alain Delon, Stanley Baker, Ottavia
Piccolo, Enzo Cerusico, Giacomo Rossi Stuart, Giampiero Albertini,
Marino Masè, Adriana Asti.
Diego de la Vega (Delon) dresses up as a killed friend.
De la Vega becomes governor of a province, showing himself
intentionally incapable to better deceive the fierce colonel
Huerta (Baker), commander of the military garrison, but by
disguising himself as Zorro, in fact he is on the side of
the people and helps them to defend themselves from the abuse
of power and to make a rebelkion.
Huerta sentences brother Francisco (Albertini) and the rebels,
who are imprisoned by the soldiers, to hard labours and furthermore
he orders the arrest of Ortensia Pulido (Piccolo), Diego's
cousin from whom the wealths and properties were confiscated
because of her subversivity.
At the end Zorro faces the soldiers, sets the prisoners free,
sets the soldiers on the wrong track outside the city and
also sets free his cousin Ortensia.
At that time a 45 rpm singles was issued in Italy and in
Japan with the songs Zorro Is Back and To You Mi Chica and
a vinyl album with twelve selections and a duration of 30:19
was issued in France, Germany and Japan and later reissued
with the same contents by C.A.M.
on CD for the first time in 1991.
The De Angelis brothers have written a cheerful main theme
for the masked avenger Zorro called Zorro Is Back, introduced
in the version performed by Oliver Onions in Titoli Di Testa
(Side A Tr. 1 and side B Tr. 6) and reprised in instrumental
form in side A Tr. 5 and in side B Tr. 2.
This motif is alternated with the love theme To You Mi Chica
introduced for solo guitar (Tr. 3 side A), in orchestral (Tr.
6 side A) and vocal (Tr. 1 side B) version and with dramatic
symphonic music with latin flavour for the heroic actions
of Zorro (Tr. 2, Tr. 4 side A and Tr. 3, Tr. 5 side B).
This Vinyl edition contains an off-vocal bonus track of Zorro
Is Back. |
